Positive Material Identification

PMI confirms that what was installed is what was specified. Composition is checked in place, which catches the substitution and mixing errors a paper trail alone will not, particularly on small-bore fittings and replacement components fitted under time pressure.

Typical scope: on-site alloy verification of piping, fittings, valves and welds; verification of consumables and weld deposits; sampling regimes agreed against risk; marking of verified items; reporting of non-conforming material against the specification.
