Planned Preventive Maintenance
Routine servicing carried out to a maintenance schedule, keeping equipment within its operating envelope and reducing unplanned downtime.
Preventive maintenance is scheduled from the equipment's own requirements rather than from a calendar convention. Running hours, duty and manufacturer intervals set the task list, and completion is recorded with as-found condition, so the history stays useful for the decisions that come later.
Typical scope: routine servicing to the maintenance schedule; lubrication and consumable replacement; filter and seal changes; functional checks and adjustment; recording of as-found and as-left condition; feedback of findings into the maintenance plan.
Part of General Maintenance.
