Response to equipment failures, covering fault diagnosis, repair or replacement, and the checks needed before the unit is returned to duty.
Breakdown work starts with the cause, not the symptom. The failed component is examined before it is replaced so the same failure is not repeated in a fortnight, and the unit is function tested against its duty before it is accepted back into service.
Typical scope: fault diagnosis and isolation; component repair or replacement; alignment, balancing and adjustment as required; function and performance testing; failure examination and reporting; recommendations to prevent recurrence.
