Environmental Baseline Studies

Baseline surveys that establish the environmental condition of a site before work begins, providing the reference for later comparison.

A baseline is only worth having if it can be repeated. Sampling locations, methods and detection limits are fixed at the outset and documented well enough that a survey years later can be compared against it directly rather than approximately.

Typical scope: survey design and selection of sampling locations; soil, water, sediment and air sampling; ecological and habitat description; laboratory analysis against agreed parameters; interpretation against relevant screening values; baseline report written as a future reference.
